Growing Minds Outdoors: Spring's Educational Playground

April is full of opportunities for kids to experience nature-based education. Whether you are celebrating Earth Day or appreciating the gorgeous flowers in bloom, Spring is the perfect time to enhance learning with outdoor themed activities.

Spending time interacting with nature shows kids that their classroom knowledge and skills can be applied to everyday life. Kids can connect with the change of seasons, life cycles, and plants as they explore real world applications.

What nature-based adventures can you incorporate into student learning? Plant seedlings, observe animals in their habitats, keep a scientist’s journal, chart butterfly sightings, investigate shadow and light, hunt insects with a magnifying glass, bring scoop seats outside for reading time, or have a pretend campout!

Kids are driven to learn by a natural curiosity. First hand experiences with nature gently nudge kids to stretch their learning and try new things.  Encourage the next generation of Earth’s caretakers by creating a love of learning, outdoors.
